IntLibber Brautigan seems to have gone and pulled something that even I didn’t think he was capable of. While I’ve come close to writing about him in the past, I had always decided that it would be better to just ignore him. Well, I can’t ignore him any longer. First, I will tell you that I have “never” talked to IntLibber Brautigan in person. I never had a reason to in the past and I really don’t care to in the future.
What brought me to this point is this disclosure from Arbitrage Wise. The fact that he needed to make this information public to avoid being blackmailed by IntLibber Brautigan is a shame. The fact that IntLibber threatened to do what he wants to do is absolutely pitiful.
Here is what was said when IntLibber contacted Arbitrage on December 4th (read the above link for more background):

From the outside, this seems like a very heavy-handed thing for IntLibber to do. The owner of one SL Exchange “threatening” the owner of another SL Exchange and using that threat as blackmail to get something they want. What it really is, is a case of somebody not standing by, or standing for, something that they believe in.
Let’s look at IntLibber Brautigan and his well known RL persona, Mike Lorrey, a little bit.
In game, it may seem like IntLibber Brautigan is a pretty good business man. He seems to have a well run company and seems to always be expanding. Sadly, things are not as well on the inside as they seem on the outside. While he talks about how his companies and ACE is growing, the truth is far from the inflated numbers that are released to the public and his shareholders. In time, the truth will be seen, and IntLibber will do anything he can to keep that truth from “getting out”.
In RL, Mike Lorrey seems to be very active in politics. His SL name stems from “International Libertarian”. It seems that his beliefs in RL and his threat to hand over a “report” to Roy Blunt and the FBI are highly contrasting. Since being a Libertarian means that you believe in reduced regulation of business, why is it that he has been in touch with the US House Republican Majority Whip, and talked about this with him?
It looks like IntLibber’s name doesn’t even mean what he stands for, anymore. He calls himself a Libertarian and then wants businesses to be regulated on how they run themselves?
The fact that he is trying to use these heavy-handed threats of real US government officials and departments to try to “get his way” in SL is simply shameful. The fact that he’s not even standing for what he believes in simply makes him “Ass Hole of the Year”.
On May 8th of this year, IntLibber Brautigan left a comment, on this page. Tell me what he believes in, and how this threat to Arbitrage has earned him the “Ass Hold of the Year” title:

“Strangulating regulations” and “a detriment to growth”! Did he change his mind? You’re an ass hole, IntLibber Brautigan, and you’ve just doomed your Ancrapistan Capital Exchange and the SLEC with this stupid move. Not that there was much, but the loss of trust and integrity by this has been done. We’ll keep an eye on you to have the next “Tizzy” fit.

Even his image as a successful businessman is a charade. He makes a lot of noise about expanding, but it doesn’t add up to anything. Look at the example of his restructuring of BNT stock - he made a big deal about reducing his ownership percentage by retiring a big chunk of his personal shares. This was supposed to have a major effect on the share price, because if you divide up BNT’s value by a smaller number of shares, each one should be worth more, right?
Here’s a quote from the press release on 10/31/2007:
“Market reaction is expected to be very positive. Eliminating more than half the stock in BNT will increase the company’s NAV from .29 as of its Sept 1 quarterly financial statement, to .60. Price to Earnings ratio in that report would now drop from 4.6 to 2.9 at the then market price of .37. ”
He expected this move should have translated into a BNT share price of 0.60 - but instead, the price remains right where it was (even a bit lower). It’s worth about $0.21 - that’s actually a decline in value by 2/3. Ouch, poor BNT shareholders.
Eeeeew ee, is that a successful businessman?! Is this a guy who understands capital markets? Definitely not. And on top of his lack of ability, he’s a jerk, who resorts to threats and nastiness to get what he wants. I know someone who got in his way and also got threats and intimidation, similar to the chat log posted above.
This “Asshole of Year” award is well deserved.

IntLibber is technically not a libertarian, he’s an anarcho-capitalist (hence Ancapistan) like myself. Though we both do call ourself libertarians because it’s essentially the same thing, only we wanna go further in reducing government’s role in our lives. Which is why me and him started working together because we hung out at the Gimme Liberty Bar together.
So for him to talk to congress about that stuff is FAR more hypocritical than if he were just a minarchist like this article suggests. This is not his first soiree when it comes to using what we both call coercive force to achieve business goals. He attempted to file a DMCA report against me for taking a building i built in which i was not paid for (Stone Brewery.) Even though they are still using my IP (yeast bins, brewing tanks…etc.) I stand firm on my principles as i do not believe in such legal fictions and never filed a DMCA report.
Also Ancapistan and Surreal BT are probably one of the most draconian and totalitarian places to visit in SL. Ng is constantly on patrol, Rat Things kicking out young AVs, an emergency 911 system, and even an immigration checkpoint. Sure it’s private property rights yea yea yea, but it’s so bait and switch. This is a free governmentless society, but it’s my land so it’s not technicality. Murray Rothbard, Lysander Spooner, and Fredric Bastiat all must be rolling in their graves.
But as far as the slander/conspiracy theories yea, this is not uncommon for IntLibber. This was the primary reason I left BnT (though he’ll tell you i’m a brainwashed “backstabbing shit” being lead by a cult leader who’s a “core of evil”) and since then I have been dealing with numerous slander campaigns by this son of a bitch. Once you are on his shit list, YOU WILL NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT. You are now a part of this network of coordinated attacks against him and his company, and your denial of it is just more proof of the overarching conspiracy against IntLibber and BnT. (sounds kinna like what Scientologists tell me when i used to picket against their “orgs”) If you have access to BanLink, search my name for a taste of what i’ve had to deal with since I left BnT.
IntLibber talks the talk when it comes to freedom and liberty, but still suckles at the tit of government force when it suits his needs.

I have designed and created an Orientation Island on the sim called North. It is a unique in world experience created to be more interactive then the current OI’s in place. I used new scripting technology and a unique build style.
The entire sim had sections built by myself, Grinn Mannonen, Trebesan Clary, and Alyx Stoklitsky. That entire sim is of my sole design and they built it under my directions. more then 75% of the build was my own work. I deleted it all before I left and the sim was rolled back, since then Intlibber Brautigan has been slowly removing sections and copying them prim by prim to replicate my entire build while he has me on the ban list to stop me from stopping his shameless theft.

It’s amazing to me how he could claim not to be interested in drama on the one hand, yet be clearly the cause and center of it on the other hand. It’s also pretty clear that he’s not a libertarian. He’s a “me-tarian”. He believes in any rule system that directly benefits him, and little else. That’s not politics. That’s just greed.

What I don’t get is, ten months later, why he’s still in business? Why does anybody trust this moron enough to actually give him money for anything?
The money must be coming from someplace, so there’s either money coming through the front door, or it’s coming through the back door. There’s some evidence to suggest that it’s old family money - when he got into SL, he jumped in big-time, buying a pile of sims to start out with. That means the money was there before he came to SL, and it probably means that that source of money hasn’t gone away, allowing him to expand his holdings. Probably much of it was taken from when he was still operating his shady banking business and did his hasty conversion when Linden Lab told him to either produce documentation saying he was a real world bank or shut down.
